Your first few minutes
KashCal works the moment you open it. No setup, no sign-up. Here's how to find your way around.
You start with a local calendar
Out of the box, KashCal gives you a local calendar stored only on your device. You can create events right away without connecting any account. This is handy if you just want a private calendar that never touches the internet.
Add a calendar account (optional)
To bring in calendars you already have (iCloud, Nextcloud, Fastmail, and so on), open the navigation drawer (swipe from the left edge or tap the menu icon), go to Settings, and add an account. See Sync & Accounts for step-by-step guides.
Create your first event
There are two quick ways:
- Tap the + button and fill in the event form.
- Use Quick Add and type it in plain language, like "Lunch with Sam Friday 12:30 for 1 hour". KashCal figures out the date, time, and duration as you type. See Quick Add.
Find your way around
- Switch views with the view picker in the top bar, or from the navigation drawer.
- Jump to today with the Today button.
- Search from the top bar or by long-pressing the app icon on your home screen.
- Toggle which calendars show from the navigation drawer.
Turn on reminders
Reminders rely on Android's notification permission. The first time it's relevant, KashCal will ask:
KashCal needs notification permission to remind you about upcoming events.
Grant it so your event alerts can appear. You can change this later in your device settings.
