Contact birthdays & anniversaries

KashCal can show the birthdays and anniversaries saved in your phone contacts on your calendar, each with a reminder.

Turn it on​

Both switches are off by default.

  1. Open Settings. Under Calendars & accounts, tap Birthdays & anniversaries.
  2. Turn on either switch, or both:
    • Contact Birthdays: "Show birthdays from your phone contacts as all-day calendar events."
    • Contact Anniversaries: "Show anniversaries from your phone contacts as all-day calendar events."
  3. If KashCal doesn't have Contacts permission yet, Android asks for it. Allow it, and the switch turns on.

KashCal reads the dates from your device contacts:

If you turn off Contacts permission later, the screen shows Contacts permission required.

What you get​

  • Each birthday and anniversary appears as an all-day event that repeats every year.
  • They live in their own calendars, Contact Birthdays and Contact Anniversaries, under Contacts in the navigation drawer.
  • Titles read like "Sam's Birthday". When the contact's date includes the year, the title adds the age or the number of years, as in "Sam's 30th Birthday".
  • Once a switch is on, the screen shows how many events it found.

Color and reminders​

After you turn on a switch, two more rows appear under it:

  • Calendar Color: the color of that calendar. Tap Change to pick another.
  • Default Reminder: when you get reminded. It starts at 9 AM on the day. Tap Change to pick another time.

Birthdays and anniversaries each have their own color and reminder.

These calendars come from your contacts and are read-only in KashCal. To change a birthday, edit the contact.
