Reminders
A reminder is the gentle nudge that keeps an event from slipping past you. KashCal gives you a heads-up before it starts, on your terms.
Adding reminders
In the event form, tap Add Alert. You can add up to five reminders per event.
For timed events, the options include:
- At the time of the event
- 5, 15, 30 minutes before
- 1 hour, 4 hours before
- 1 day, 1 week before
Need something in between? Tap a reminder to open a days/hours/minutes picker and set any custom lead time. To remove a reminder, tap the ✕ on its row.
For all-day events, reminders work a little differently because there's no specific start time. Options include:
- 9 AM on the day of the event
- 1 day before (at 9 AM)
- 2 days before
- 1 week before
When a reminder fires
Reminders arrive as Android notifications. Each one gives you quick actions:
- Snooze to remind you again shortly.
- Dismiss to acknowledge and clear it.
Reminders survive reboots
KashCal re-schedules your reminders after your device restarts, so a reboot won't make you miss an alert.
Default reminders
You can set a default reminder (and a separate default all-day reminder) in Settings, so every new event starts with the alert you prefer. You can always change or remove it per event.
Notification permission
Reminders need Android's notification permission. If it isn't granted yet, KashCal will ask:
KashCal needs notification permission to remind you about upcoming events.
For reminders to arrive at the exact minute, KashCal also uses the precise-alarm capability. If your device asks about exact alarms, allowing it keeps reminders on time.
Device calendar reminders
If you show calendars from other apps on your phone (see Device calendars), KashCal can deliver reminders for those events too, which you can toggle in Settings.
