Navigation & shortcuts

Getting where you want to go takes a tap or a swipe. Here are the small moves that keep KashCal out of your way: the drawer, the account hub, home-screen shortcuts, search, and an on-demand sync.

The navigation drawer​

Swipe from the left edge of the screen, or tap the menu icon, to open the drawer. From here you can:

  • Switch views: Month, Agenda, Day, 3 Days, Week, Month (Full), Year, and Insights.
  • Show or hide calendars. Each calendar has a checkbox and a color dot. Your calendars are grouped by account, with separate sections for Contacts (birthdays and anniversaries) and Device calendars (calendars from other apps on your phone).
  • Open Settings.
  • Share feedback.

The account hub​

Tap the round avatar in the top-right corner of any calendar view to open the account hub, a full-screen page for everything about you and how the app looks. Tap the avatar again (or the pencil on it) to set your two initials; until you do, it shows a neutral person outline.

The hub gathers:

  • Accounts & Settings, an outlined button at the top that opens Settings, where you connect accounts and calendars.
  • Make it yours, where you personalize the app:
    • Theme: the light or dark face. System default follows your phone; Light and Dark pin it.
    • Accent color: the color KashCal is built around, recoloring the app and your home-screen widgets. Automatic follows your device's Material You wallpaper colors on Android 12 and newer (the default), or pick your own from twelve curated swatches or a wheel of 92 named colors. KashCal Teal is the app's own palette, and the fallback when Material You isn't available. Whatever you pick, the shapes that use it keep a thin outline, so the hub avatar, the Accounts & Settings button, and today's date in the calendar grid stay visible even with a very pale or very dark accent that would otherwise wash out against the background.
    • App icon: keep the default, or switch to the Supporter icon, a gold card with a heart, to show you've chipped in (or would like to). It comes two ways, one keeping the KashCal name and one showing a discreet Calendar name. Changing it may restart the app, and notifications always use the default icon and name.
    • Widget theme and Widget accent: your home-screen widgets can follow the app or wear a look of their own. Leave both on Follow app, or pin the widgets to Light/Dark and give them their own color. See Widgets.
  • Own your calendar, the things you do with your schedule:
    • Invites, every invitation still waiting on your reply. A count appears on the row, and on the avatar itself, when something is owed.
    • Go to date, to jump anywhere in the calendar.
    • Share availability, to send someone your free times as plain text.
    • Manage tags, where you recolor, rename, and remove the tags you've used across your events.
  • Privacy & Security, everything about who can see your calendar and what it can reach:
    • App lock, to require your fingerprint, face, or screen lock before KashCal opens.
    • App permissions, a single screen listing every permission KashCal uses, each with the reason it needs it and a link to its system setting.

App shortcuts​

Long-press the KashCal icon on your home screen to jump straight to a task:

  • New Event opens the event form right away.
  • Today opens KashCal on today's date.
  • Search opens search immediately.

Searching​

Open search from the top bar or the Search app shortcut. You can filter results by date: this week, this month, all events, or a custom range. See Search.

Syncing on demand​

Pull down on any calendar view to trigger an immediate sync with your connected servers. KashCal also syncs in the background on a schedule you control. See How sync works.
